چکیده
Are Two “Antiplatelet” Drugs Better Than One? Many different processes are involved in platelet activation. Most drugs affect one of these chemical reactions. Theoretically, platelet functions (secretion, aggregation, and adhesion) can be reduced most effectively by using 1 agent or by inhibiting the final step in the attachment of the platelet to fibrin at the level of the glycoprotein IIb/IIIa (GpIIb/IIIa) receptor. Preliminary experience with oral and intravenous GpIIb/IIIa inhibitors has shown that bleeding is an important problem. In MATCH, 2 platelet function inhibitors, clopidogrel and aspirin, did prevent slightly more strokes (but not with statistical significance) but at the price of significantly more excess bleeding. Killing platelets causes bleeding.

Reliability of Motor Evoked Potentials Induced by Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation: The Effects of Initial Motor Evoked Potentials Removal
Introduction: Transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is a useful tool for assessment of corticospinal excitability (CSE) changes in both healthy individuals and patients with brain disorders. The usefulness of TMS-elicited motor evoked potentials (MEPs) for the assessment of CSE in a clinical context depends on their intra-and inter-session reliability. This study aimed to evaluate if removal ...

Abstract Terror management theory- which is a social psychology theory and inspired by evolutionary, psychodynamic and existential approaches - attempts to explain formation of sense of self and social behaviors with attention to survival tendency and escape from terror of death. This theory suggests two kinds of defenses in confrontation of death thoughts (proximal and distal defenses) and ...
متن کاملPostnatal Changes of Conduction Velocity of the Fibers in and out of the Mouse Barrel Cortex
There are some conflicts about constancy of conduction velocity (CV) in a given tract of nervous system. By recording excitatory postsynaptic currents (EPSC) in layer IV of the somatosensory cortex we tried to clear changes in CV of thalamocortical tract of mice aged 3 to 50 days old. Field potentials and EPSC were recorded in the layer IV by stimulation of ventrobasal nucleus of thalamus (VB) ...
متن کاملTMS over M1 Reveals Expression and Selective Suppression of Conflicting Action Impulses
Goal-directed action control comes into play when selecting between competing action alternatives. Response capture reflects the susceptibility of the motor system to incitement by task-irrelevant action impulses; the subsequent selective suppression of incorrect action impulses aims to counteract response capture and facilitate the desired response. The goal of this experiment was to clarify p...
متن کاملEvent-related potentials and serial position effects in a visual probe recognition task.
In two experiments, we explored the utility of using event-related brain potentials (ERPs) evoked during picture recognition to examine the cognitive and neural processes underlying primacy and recency effects. Each experiment consisted of 210 trials in which a recognition probe followed a 12-picture sequence (105 match and 105 nonmatch trials). The 105 match-probe trials consisted of 35 trials...
